Job Description

Qwerky AI seeks a motivated and enthusiastic Data Scientist Intern to join our dynamic Research & Development team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of data science, contributing to real-world projects that impact our business. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, eager to learn, and possesses a foundational understanding of machine learning concepts and programming. You will work closely with our experienced data scientists and engineers, supporting various stages of the data science lifecycle, from data collection and analysis to model development and interpretation of results.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, processing, and validating large datasets from various sources.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Support the development, training, and evaluation of machine learning models under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Contribute to the implementation and testing of data science algorithms and techniques.
  • Help prepare visualizations and reports to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Research and experiment with new data science tools, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Document data processing steps, model development, and experimental results.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
Required Skills
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, clustering).
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and machine learning, with experience using relevant libraries (e.g., PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
  • Experience with data manipulation, data cleaning, and feature engineering techniques.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of version control systems, notably Git.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of C++ for performance-critical applications.
  • Familiarity with parallel computing concepts.
  • Exposure to CUDA programming for GPU acceleration.
  • Basic understanding of GPU kernels and how they function.
  • Previous internship experience in data science or a related field.
  • Previous experience in academic research.
  • Contributions to open-source or personal data science projects (e.g., Kaggle competitions, GitHub repositories, LeetGPU).

Hiring Process
  • Submit a resume to us for review.
  • We will follow up with a technical screening (this will take approximately one hour).
  • Following the successful completion of the technical screening, we will schedule an Onsite Interview.
  • The Onsite Interview to meet more of the team, it will consist of the following (total time three hours):
    • Technical Screenings (1-2)
    • System Design
    • Behavioral Interview
